The Redress Board (set up under the Residential Institutions Redress Act 2002) was set up to award compensation to people who, as children, were abused while resident in industrial schools, reformatories and other institutions subject to state regulation or inspection.
The closing date for applications was September 2011. The Redress Board is not accepting any new applications.
They are now processing all the outstanding applications.
The Board, which is wholly independent, is chaired by The Honourable Mr. Justice Esmond Smyth.
